The Tel Aviv Heat is proud to announce the signing of 25-year-old marquee lock Armand Grobler.
An impactful lineout forward that uses his 120kg frame to impose his physical presence around the park, Grobler looks forward to carrying, hitting rucks, and putting in big defensive tackles.
Grobler started his professional career at the tender age of 18, the youngest to represent the Puma’s U21 in the Currie cup in 2014. By 2015, he had signed with the Sharks to play in the U19 Currie cup.
Following his junior successes he was snatched up by Italian Top 12 team Eccellenza Medici in 2019. By 2020 he had returned from Italy after being recruited by the SWD Eagles, where he played in the Supersport challenge and Currie Cup. Most recently Armand has been in the Valke Currie Cup Squad.
At his size, Grobler possesses great speed and fitness, earning an invitation to play for the All-Stars at the 2019 HSBC 7’s tournament in Dubai, where he helped his team reach the Quarter-Finals.
Armand’s experience in different team environments, both in South Africa and abroad, will stand him in good stead as he brings his unique skill set to the Tel Aviv Heat.
